#66 Henry Huggins

16 Nov

At #66 on the Top 100 Children’s Books list, Henry Huggins, yet another wonderful Beverly Cleary character, makes an appearance.  Henry Huggins is just one of the books in a series of sorts about the young inhabitants of Klickitat Street.  Mischievous, funny and genuine, each story about Henry, his dog Ribsy, and his friends left me with a feeling of security and happiness.  The mishaps that Henry gets himself in seem serious in the scheme of his life, but to us as older readers seem to be all fun and games.  I cannot emphasize enough the beauty and enjoyment of each character that Beverly Cleary has introduced to the world of literature.  She has obviously left a mark in the children’s literature world, as four of her novels appear on the Top 100 list.

Think you are a Beverly Cleary buff?  Be sure to check out the quiz!  I scored 10 out of 11!
